We are currently seeking to fill a Senior Level Linux Network Administrator position with the right individual who possesses a bachelor's degree and over fifteen (15) years of experience in the field. This role requires a current, active Secret clearance, with the potential to obtain a Top-Secret clearance if necessary. The Principal System Administrator will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of both classified and unclassified MDDC Program systems and networks, along with associated equipment, devices, and software, in accordance with applicable MDA and DoD guidance, instructions, procedures, and processes. The successful candidate will ensure that IT systems are fully functional for all operational and support activities hosted and serviced by the MDDC Program. Essential Linux system administration support for hardware in support of the MDDC Program for both classified and unclassified systems is a key responsibility. The role requires the ability to work with existing Linux installations as well as build new systems, and to collaborate with vendors to support current Linux-based software installations while ensuring compliance with system requirements. In this position, the Principal System Administrator will work closely with Program Management, Information Assurance, software development, analysis groups, and end-users to understand and implement the necessary requirements for MDDC Program operations and activities. Providing guidance and support with technical expertise, instruction, and advice regarding MDDC Program IT processes and operations based on applicable MDA and DoD security provisions is essential. The candidate will also anticipate IT-related issues and implement proactive preventive measures, develop, sustain, and update documentation for Information Technology processes and procedures, and perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries. Additionally, the role involves maintaining IT databases, performing light programming tasks related to system administration needs, and researching, evaluating, and recommending new and emerging IT systems technologies to advance and support MDDC Program requirements. The Principal System Administrator will lead, train, and support the work of junior staff engaged in system administration functions and assist with Government Furnished Equipment/Government Furnished Property (GFE/GFP) contract hardware/software maintenance, repairs, and processes. Maintaining inventory and organization of various types of software and hardware resources is also a critical responsibility. An IA certification in accordance with DoD Instruction 8570.01M is required.
