We are currently seeking to fill a Senior Level Linux Network Administrator position with the right individual who possesses a bachelor’s degree and over fifteen (15) years of experience. A current, active Secret clearance is required, along with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance if necessary. The role involves a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of both classified and unclassified MDDC Program systems and networks, as well as associated equipment, devices, and software in accordance with applicable MDA and DoD guidance, instructions, procedures, and processes. The Principal System Administrator will ensure that IT systems are fully functional for all operational and support activities hosted and serviced by the MDDC Program. This includes providing essential Linux system administration support for hardware related to both classified and unclassified systems. The individual will be expected to work with existing Linux installations and build new systems as required. Collaboration with vendors to support current Linux-based software installations and maintain compliance is also a key aspect of the role. In addition, the administrator will work closely with Program Management, Information Assurance, software development, analysis groups, and end-users to understand and implement the requirements necessary for MDDC Program operations and activities. The role requires the ability to anticipate IT-related issues and implement proactive preventive measures. Documentation for Information Technology processes and procedures must be developed, sustained, and updated regularly. The administrator will also perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries, maintain IT databases, and conduct light programming tasks related to system administration needs. The position also involves researching, evaluating, and recommending new and emerging IT systems technologies to advance and support MDDC Program requirements. Leadership responsibilities include training and supporting junior staff engaged in system administration functions, as well as assisting with Government Furnished Equipment/Government Furnished Property (GFE/GFP) contract hardware/software maintenance, repairs, and processes. The administrator will be responsible for maintaining inventory and organization of various types of software and hardware resources, and must hold an IA certification in accordance with DoD Instruction 8570.01M.
