About the position

We are currently seeking to fill a Senior Level Linux Network Administrator position with the right individual who possesses a bachelor's degree and over fifteen (15) years of experience in the field. A current, active Secret clearance is required, along with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance if necessary. The role involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of both classified and unclassified MDDC Program systems and networks, as well as associated equipment, devices, and software, in accordance with applicable MDA and DoD guidance, instructions, procedures, and processes. The Senior Linux Network Administrator will ensure that IT systems are fully functional for all operational and support activities hosted and serviced by the MDDC Program. This includes providing essential Linux system administration support for hardware related to both classified and unclassified systems. The individual will be expected to work with existing Linux installations and build new systems as required. Collaboration with vendors to support current Linux-based software installations and maintaining compliance with system requirements is also a key aspect of the role. In addition, the administrator will work closely with Program Management, Information Assurance, software development, analysis groups, and end-users to understand and implement the necessary requirements for MDDC Program operations and activities. The role requires providing guidance and support with technical expertise, instruction, and advice regarding MDDC Program IT processes and operations, ensuring compliance with MDA and DoD security provisions and documented instructions to meet all MDA and customer goals. Proactive measures to anticipate IT-related issues and implement preventive strategies are essential. The position also involves developing, sustaining, and updating documentation for Information Technology processes and procedures, performing regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries, maintaining IT databases, and executing light programming tasks related to system administration needs. The Senior Linux Network Administrator will research, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging IT systems technologies to advance and support MDDC Program requirements. Additionally, the role includes leading, training, and supporting junior staff engaged in system administration functions, assisting with Government Furnished Equipment/Government Furnished Property (GFE/GFP) contract hardware/software maintenance, repairs, and processes, and maintaining inventory and organization of various software and hardware resources.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical discipline.
  • Fifteen (15) years or more of experience in the field; an additional four (4) years of experience may substitute for the degree.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification required.
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of datacenter technologies including Linux Administration, Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN).
  • Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SMB, etc.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and operate in a dynamic enterprise environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in RHEL and CentOS.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and solid data entry skills.
  • Ability to provide examples of being proactive and taking initiative in daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the customer base and provide excellent customer responsiveness.
