About the position

As a Principal System Administrator at Oracle, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) hosted virtual machines. This role requires you to provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues, which may involve leading problem management cases and providing management status updates. You will coordinate escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or third-party vendors to resolution. Your responsibilities will also include managing Oracle production environments, supporting server operating system tuning, application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching. You will work on standardization projects for software under the Oracle technology stack while ensuring consistent system uptime as expected in a Cloud environment. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from home while adhering to normal working hours between 10 AM to 6 PM Pacific Coast time, US.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, support, and optimize OCI Cloud hosted virtual machines.
• Provide escalated technical support for sophisticated technical issues.
• Coordinate escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or third-party vendors to resolution.
• Manage Oracle production environments, including server operating system tuning, application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching.
• Work on standardization projects for software under the Oracle technology stack while ensuring consistent system uptime.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 10 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed cloud computing environment.
• Experience in performance monitoring and capacity management.
• Experience with Backup/Restore operations.
• Experience with Patching Operations (SCCM, YUM).
• Demonstrated relevant industry experience within the last 5 years.
• Excellent System Admin skills in Windows and Linux including shell scripting.
• Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills supporting the OS, Storage, and Hardware for Applications platforms and Database.
• Understanding of fundamental Network concepts (e.g. Routing, DNS, Firewalls).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and with members of a global team without close supervision.
• Experience in supporting cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. Oracle OCI Platform) is a plus.
