About the position

The Principal System Administrator will play a critical role in managing and supporting the company's IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on Windows operational support and troubleshooting. This position requires a deep understanding of both Windows and Linux environments, as well as experience with various technologies including VMware, DNS, SCCM, Azure cloud, networking, and containerization. The successful candidate will be expected to work in the office 2-3 days a week, reflecting the company's commitment to collaboration and teamwork. In this role, the Principal System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the Windows platform and ensuring that third-party software operates at an n-2 level. The candidate will also be involved in a variety of data center operations, supporting mainframe and midrange systems, and will need to demonstrate strong knowledge of midrange computing systems. The position requires experience in managing a large number of production Microsoft Windows servers, as well as providing administrative support for Linux operating systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in infrastructure administration, with at least 6 years of experience in roles that align with the technologies supported by the company. This includes expertise in Microsoft Operating Systems, backup tools, replication and high availability tools, and performance monitoring. Additionally, the candidate should have experience with storage management, including technologies for cloud and big data environments, and a professional understanding of networking concepts and technologies, particularly in relation to Cisco and Palo Alto systems. Furthermore, the Principal System Administrator will be expected to have professional-level experience with OpenText software modules, including LiveLink Content Server and SAP Extended ECM. This includes managing configurations, performance tuning, and change management processes within the OpenText landscape. The role is essential for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the company's IT operations, contributing to the overall success of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on Windows on-prem operational support and troubleshooting (85%)
  • Support Linux, VMware, DNS, SCCM, Azure cloud, networking, Citrix, and containerization (15%)
  • Maintain Windows platform and third-party software to an n-2 operating level
  • Administer Windows environment and provide support for Linux operating systems
  • Manage a large number of production Microsoft Windows servers
  • Support VMware Virtual Infrastructures and server hardware platforms
  • Utilize patch management solutions such as Microsoft SCCM
  • Manage cloud infrastructures including Azure and AWS
  • Administer storage technologies and manage storage replication
  • Support disaster recovery and high availability architectures
  • Administer OpenText software modules and manage configurations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years experience in Infrastructure administration
  • Experience maintaining Windows platform and 3rd party software
  • Experience administering a Windows environment
  • Strong knowledge of midrange computing systems
  • Experience in Microsoft Operating System; Windows & Unix (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Web Technologies and 3-Tier Architecture
  • Knowledge of Backup tools (BRMS, Tivoli, Backup Exec)
  • Knowledge of Replication/HA Tools (Mimix, iTerra, DoubleTake)
  • Experience supporting 300+ production Microsoft Windows servers
  • Experience providing administrative experience in an environment supporting Linux operating system
  • Experience supporting VMware Virtual Infrastructures
  • Experience using patch management solution such as Microsoft SCCM
  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructures such as Azure, AWS
  • Experience managing storage technologies for cloud, open stack, and big data environments
  • Professional level understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and Aruba wireless systems
  • CCNP or equivalent is required

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with infrastructure and storage theories, principles, and concepts
  • Experience managing NAS, SAN, DAS, Fiber channel switches, HBA s and other storage related equipment
  • Experience in the implementation and management of storage vendors such as IBM, NetApp, Tintri, EMC, Dell, CommVault, Symantec, Microsoft, and AWS
  • Exposure to managing Opentext in the cloud
