About the position

The Principal System Engineer for Aircraft Propulsion and Pneumatics at SNC plays a crucial role in modernizing and delivering next-generation airborne command post systems for the U.S. Air Force. This position involves researching, architecting, modeling, simulating, testing, certifying, and improving advanced aerospace products and services. The engineer will oversee system-level ownership of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that the systems meet operational requirements and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify, and improve aerospace products and services.
  • Develop complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms.
  • Lead system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Manage requirements, including functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and apply Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline.
  • Typically 14 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Thorough understanding of requirements management and systems design.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced experience with requirements management and system modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, including Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development settings.
