About the position

The Principal Systems Engineer for Launch Systems Integration & Test at Draper will play a crucial role in the integration and testing of payloads on launch systems. This position involves utilizing formal design and test processes to support the Air Force and Missile Defense Strategic Systems business area, ensuring the development of effective payload packaging and integration from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control priorities, scope, schedule, and cost to baselines by proactively monitoring program/task performance across larger activities.
  • Independently derive system-level I&T requirements based on mission requirements and define plans, approaches, and detailed test procedures to solve complex I&T problems.
  • Help customers understand and adequately mitigate and resolve I&T risks and issues.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to develop and implement I&T approaches throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Identify program/system-level I&T technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, document, and teach best practices to less experienced engineers.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and time management skills to achieve program goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a relevant role.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience with model based systems engineering (MBSE) - including MagicDraw & Cameo
  • Certification in MBSE and/or SysML
  • Experience modeling, simulating, or analyzing systems in domains such as Hypersonics, Guided Munitions, Interceptors, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
