About the position

The Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, development, and support of Hologic ThinPrep products, which are FDA-approved medical laboratory devices. This role focuses on deploying Windows Server-based systems, troubleshooting configurations, and advising product development, particularly for the Genius Digital Diagnostics System. The engineer will work closely with a team to enhance software deployment mechanisms and ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts, and software architects.
  • Communicate effectively and constructively with team members.
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
  • Lead technical discussions about technology and infrastructure.
  • Define and execute projects independently, managing ambiguous or undefined problems.
  • Perform all software development lifecycle functions including specification, design, development, debugging, verification and validation testing, and documentation.
  • Enhance existing deployment code through refactoring and code review.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and defect resolution.
  • Utilize company design and development processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in software development, contributing to the full software development life cycle.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016 and later.
  • Experience with SQL Server databases and replication.
  • Understanding of complex deployments of Windows Server.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET Framework/Core, ASP.NET, and associated techniques.
  • Experience with C# WPF or similar UI frameworks.
  • Experience with service-based architectures (REST API, etc.).
  • Knowledge of networking and distributed software architectures.
  • Thorough familiarity with Windows operating system.
  • Experience with common software security techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in an FDA regulated environment.
  • Experience with software control development and management platforms (JIRA, Github, Visual Studio, VSCode, NodeJS).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based software development and deployment.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $146,300 to $205,100, bonus eligible.
