About the position

The Principal Systems Engineer at Raytheon will play a crucial role in executing various aspects of systems engineering, including requirements decomposition, system performance analysis, and oversight of software development and integration activities. This position involves collaboration with agile development teams and program leadership to ensure technical considerations and risks are effectively managed, contributing to the development of secure and innovative solutions for national defense.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis to define and document requirements for software releases.
  • Work with the Requirements Manager to maintain up-to-date requirements traceability matrices.
  • Assist in creating and managing project schedules based on development and release activities.
  • Contribute to technical planning and capability/feature designs for agile development teams.
  • Work on cloud solutions, integrating both cloud and hardware environments.
  • Utilize knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cyber security, and software design.

Requirements

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience.
  • System engineering full life cycle experience and technical leadership experience in development of large software systems.
  • Experience supporting agile development activities, including requirements specification and integration test and verification activities.
  • Experience with requirements derivation and capability development, analyzing complex requirements and determining viable solutions.
  • Experience decomposing customer epics into capabilities for development teams.
  • Systems design and specification experience, including CONOPS development and large-scale distributed software systems.
  • Experience defining acceptance criteria for capabilities that can be designed and developed by external teams.
  • Experience conducting design and/or modeling activities and interpreting customer needs into achievable requirements.
  • Experience maintaining technical cost and schedule for systems engineering and software integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • SIGINT, GEOINT, or Multi-INT Intelligence Community (IC) background analyst with end user mission experience.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role of a large multi-disciplined engineering team.
  • Experience with cloud-based software architectures and systems.
  • Experience using Architecture Frameworks and modeling resources like Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody for large systems.
  • Experience developing MBSE and/or DoDAF operational views.
  • AWS cloud experience and knowledge of AWS cloud technology implementation.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience as a System Engineer or in related roles.
  • Experience using Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket) and evaluating COTS/FOSS applications.
