About the position

The Principal Systems Engineer at ASRC Federal will play a critical role in supporting the Ground Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Service (GMASS) program. This position involves system modeling, requirements analysis, and collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of system specifications. The engineer will also engage with customers to define scope and requirements, and will be responsible for generating and reviewing systems engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system modeling using MBSE tools and techniques to define system interfaces, requirements, and behaviors.
  • Support requirements analysis and functional allocation to hardware, software, operator, and other segments of the system(s).
  • Review system engineering documentation and collaborate with radar subject matter experts to ensure specifications meet system needs.
  • Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure technical quality and engineering rigor.
  • Lead analysis and oversight of cybersecurity, supportability, and new capability updates.
  • Interface and engage in communications with the Customer in support of scope and requirements definition.
  • Support system requirements reviews and create/update requirement specifications and technical documentation to meet contractual delivery of CDRLs and DALs.
  • Generate, review, and update systems engineering documentation in collaboration with radar subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with nine (9) years of systems engineering experience; or seven (7) years' experience with a Master's degree; or four (4) years with PhD.
  • Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports.
  • Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) or other ground-based radars.
  • Familiarity or experience in using a discrepancy management tool, such as Jira.
  • Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe.
