About the position

The Principal Systems Engineer (IFC) at Northrop Grumman is responsible for leading the Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) efforts within the Systems Engineering Integration (SEI) team for the RQ-4 Enterprise. This role involves coordinating with diverse engineering design teams to develop technical solutions, manage project execution, and ensure the technical baseline supports programmatic milestones. The position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of system development life-cycle processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to develop and execute program IFC plans and metrics.
  • Manage project execution rhythm, coordination, and reporting activities.
  • Manage supplier activities and serve as the primary project point of contact to customers and key suppliers.
  • Act as a technical liaison to the cross-functional team.
  • Ensure familiarity and understanding of system requirements, validation and verification processes, and interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Utilize JIRA software tool (or similar) for issue tracking and resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of engineering experience.
  • Experience in aerospace Systems Engineering, including requirements decomposition, test planning, requirements verification, integration, and requirements management.
  • Must have at least an Interim Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a final DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with Project Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) process.
  • Familiarity with JIRA software tool (or similar) for issue tracking and resolution.
  • Strong leadership, excellent communication, and strong presentation skills.
  • Experience with Agile Methodology.
  • Defect management experience.
  • Experience in software development, including interfacing with systems engineering and integration and test.
  • Experience in integrating hardware and software in a lab environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting system issues in a lab or the field and identifying root cause corrective actions.
  • Experience with USAF programs.
  • Experience with technical configuration management (CM or Technical Baseline).
  • Experience with root cause investigations, fielded issue investigation, and operational missions.
