About the position

The Principal Technical Product Manager for Pricing at AWS Billing Core Product will play a crucial role in shaping the future of cloud billing. This position is responsible for defining and driving the worldwide pricing strategy for AWS, which includes both public and private pricing models. The role is pivotal in accelerating cloud adoption and simplifying complex migrations for customers transitioning their financial planning from capital expenditures (capex) to operational expenditures (opex). As the pricing expert on the team, you will coordinate with various internal and external teams, ensuring that the pricing strategies align with the needs of diverse global customers, from startups to Fortune 100 enterprises. In this role, you will leverage your broad understanding of systems and software engineering concepts to innovate and simplify the billing process. You will define business cases, conduct competitive and pricing analyses, and develop financial models (P&L) to support your strategies. Your responsibilities will include creating a strategic vision and long-term roadmap, working backwards from customer needs, and utilizing data analysis to guide decision-making. You will lead internal technical discussions, balancing technical costs with business value, and represent the rationale behind architectural decisions for products and features. You will also partner with other leaders in the design, development, and delivery of software systems and features, influencing adjacent teams' roadmaps and collaborating on prioritization. Success in this role will be measured by the achievement of customer outcomes, with clear goal targets set for these measurements. As a founding member of the new AWS Billing Core Product team, you will help shape the culture of this organization and drive innovation in billing concepts such as pricing and ease of use.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the worldwide pricing strategy for AWS, including public and private pricing models.
  • Conduct business cases, competitive analysis, pricing analysis, and develop financial (P&L) models.
  • Create a strategic vision and long-term roadmap, working backwards from customer needs and utilizing data analysis.
  • Lead internal technical discussions, balancing technical costs with business value.
  • Represent the rationale behind architectural decisions for products and features.
  • Partner with other leaders in the design, development, and delivery of software systems and features.
  • Influence adjacent teams' roadmaps and collaborate on approach and prioritization.
  • Create success measurements linked to desired customer outcomes and set goal targets for these measurements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience owning and driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • Experience with feature delivery and trade-offs of a product.
  • Experience in technical product management, particularly in AWS Billing.
  • Broad understanding of systems and software engineering concepts.
  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement.
