About the position

As a Principal Technical Product Marketing Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the marketing strategy for our cloud-based products and services. This position requires a deep understanding of customer needs and the ability to synthesize data from various sources, including industry analysis and customer feedback, to drive product outcomes that exceed expectations. You will be responsible for creating broad, portfolio-level value propositions that simplify the understanding of how cloud technology can be applied in businesses for high impact. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience as a technologist, working closely with customers who utilize cloud capabilities. You will synthesize both external and internal data to guide feature prioritization and ensure consistency across various AWS services. Your responsibilities will include developing compelling positioning and messaging at the portfolio level, advocating for customer needs during the product development process, and generating content artifacts that educate customers about our offerings. AWS is recognized as the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of services, including Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, and Security. We are looking for individuals who can operate at both a broad and deep level, understanding our technology with the same depth as our customers while thinking like both a technologist and a business leader. This position is open to candidates in various locations, including Seattle, WA, Arlington, VA, Boston, MA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA, and Santa Clara, CA, with relocation offered from within the US. You will also be expected to travel up to 15% as part of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product management to develop portfolio-level strategy documents to guide prioritization of AWS offerings and capabilities.
  • Create positioning and messaging artifacts that represent our offerings at a portfolio level.
  • Analyze and synthesize 1st and 3rd party data to define opportunities for our offerings.
  • Act as an advocate for customers within AWS during the product development process.
  • Generate content artifacts (presentations, demos, etc.) to educate customers on our offerings.
  • Work closely with other AWS teams to ensure value propositions are articulated clearly across various channels.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working directly with customers on the adoption of cloud-based products and services.
  • 10+ years of working knowledge of cloud-based architectures in one or more technical domains (e.g., Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, Security).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional certification.
  • Prior Technical Product Marketing experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with comfort communicating across internal and external organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Marketing.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud solutions architecture.
