About the position

As a Principal Technical Product Marketing Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will play a pivotal role in understanding customer needs and synthesizing data from various sources to drive product outcomes that exceed expectations. Your expertise as a technologist will be essential in simplifying complex cloud technology concepts and creating compelling value propositions that resonate with customers. You will work closely with AWS Product Managers and engineering teams to ensure that the right portfolios of offerings are developed and marketed effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud capabilities and the ability to connect various AWS services to articulate their value clearly. In this position, you will leverage your experience in working directly with customers to gather insights and drive feature prioritization. You will be responsible for creating positioning and messaging artifacts that represent AWS offerings at a portfolio level. Your analytical skills will be crucial as you synthesize first and third-party data to identify opportunities for product enhancements. Acting as an advocate for customers, you will ensure their needs are considered throughout the product development process. You will also be involved in generating content artifacts such as presentations and demos to educate customers about AWS offerings. Collaboration with other AWS teams will be key to ensuring that value propositions are communicated effectively across various channels, including major events like re:Invent and AWS Summits. This role may require some travel, up to 15%, to engage with customers and stakeholders directly.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and product management to develop portfolio-level strategy documents to guide prioritization of AWS offerings and capabilities we build
  • Creation of positioning and messaging artifacts that will represent our offerings at a portfolio level
  • Analysis and synthesis of 1st and 3rd party data (including driving direct data gathering from customers) to define opportunities for our offerings
  • Acting as an advocate for customers within AWS during the product development process
  • Involvement in the generation of content artifacts (presentations, demos, etc.) that can be leveraged broadly to educate customers on our offerings
  • Working closely with other AWS teams to ensure these value propositions are articulated broadly and clearly

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience working directly with customers on adoption of cloud-based products and services
  • 10+ years working knowledge cloud-based architectures in one or more technical domains (e.g. Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, Security, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with high level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations, and with executives
  • Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Hands-on experience with AWS; AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification
  • Prior Technical Product Marketing experience
  • MBA degree
