About the position

The Principal Technical Program Manager for Core Engineering at Atlassian will play a crucial role in the SPEAR team, focusing on enhancing product quality through data-driven features and systems that ensure performance, reliability, and efficient capacity management. This position involves defining and managing technical programs, collaborating with various stakeholders, and utilizing technical expertise to address challenges and deliver enterprise-grade solutions across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage technical programs and success metrics for the SPEAR team.
  • Analyze business objectives and customer needs to define a long-term strategy and roadmap for platform and product components.
  • Translate business objectives into technical systems problems that need prioritization and resolution.
  • Create action plans for specific systems programs, including capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of technical programs from initiation to forecasting and budgeting.
  • Handle complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience on software teams as a Development Manager or Technical Program Manager (TPM).
  • Strong strategic thinking skills to translate business objectives into technical problems and programs.
  • Technical understanding of systems involved, with a willingness to develop domain expertise in areas like storage and networking.
  • Experience defining and running end-to-end complex technical programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Ability to drive change through building systems, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Understanding of capacity, systems efficiency, and mapping return on investment to engineering systems.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative, and ambiguous environments.
