About the position

The Identity team at Atlassian is dedicated to building and delivering a robust platform and solutions that enable customers and partners to access authorized resources and content across all Atlassian products. As a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will play a pivotal role in overseeing critical components, customer scenarios, and programs within this team. Your responsibilities will extend beyond mere project management; you will be instrumental in shaping the emerging TPM craft, demonstrating strong technical depth, and collaborating closely with stakeholders across various crafts and product areas to drive product strategy and execution. In this role, you will analyze the current state of your platform and product components, aligning them with business objectives, customer needs, and industry trends. This analysis will inform the development of a long-term strategy and roadmap for your platform and product components, which you will define in collaboration with your stakeholders. You will translate this strategy into technical requirements and solutions, working alongside partner teams and engineering counterparts to ensure successful execution. Your position will require you to manage complex dependencies and projects that span a broad scope across the company. You will be responsible for driving the adoption and usage of your platform across all Atlassian products. Additionally, you may contribute to the overall strategy and roadmap of the Identity area, helping to scope and drive Identity-wide programs. A key aspect of this role is the sense of ownership you will have over your components, programs, and customer scenarios. You will need to proactively identify and address any inhibitors, issues, or opportunities, ensuring that you take full responsibility for your area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the state of your platform and product components, business objectives, customer needs, product adoption inhibitors, and industry trends to define a long-term strategy and roadmap.
  • Translate the strategy and platform/product requirements into technical requirements and solutions in collaboration with partner teams and engineering counterparts.
  • Drive the execution of the articulated roadmap, scoping and executing numerous programs, some of which you will shepherd yourself.
  • Manage complex dependencies and projects with a broad scope across the company.
  • Drive adoption and usage of your platform across Atlassian products.
  • Contribute to the definition of the strategy and roadmap of the Identity area overall, helping to scope and drive Identity-wide programs.
  • Proactively identify inhibitors, issues, or opportunities within your components and address them or find the right owners.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience on software teams as a TPM, Engineer, Development Manager, or PM.
  • Experience analyzing business priorities, customer needs, and industry trends to articulate a long-term roadmap.
  • Ability to translate customer and/or product requirements into technical requirements.
  • Proven experience influencing architecture or technical design through subject matter expertise and technical depth.
  • Experience driving projects spanning multiple teams, including negotiating and reaching agreement with partners and stakeholders.
  • Experience building commercial Cloud Services is a big plus.
  • Experience with Identity technology is a big plus.
