About the position

The Principal Technical Program Manager will play a crucial role in Microsoft's Silicon, Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team, which is responsible for powering Microsoft's Intelligent Cloud mission. This position focuses on managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure, ensuring timely deployment of hardware infrastructure, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet customer needs. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, program management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational success in hardware manufacturing and cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and be accountable for Compute Fleet out of service capacity.
  • Identify top issues and provide committed execution plans.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables, managing the project timeline, budget, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and status reports, communicating project status to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify customer requirements, risks, and dependencies.
  • Work with hardware, firmware, and software teams to architect and build highly scalable and reliable solutions for fleet uptime initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure systems meet significant quality, reliability, and service level requirements for a cloud environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL/Kusto and experience building data visualizations/metrics tracking using applications such as Power BI.
  • Background in cloud computing, modern server architecture, or hardware failure detection/prevention.
  • Experience in project management and leading cross-functional programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of experience in technical leadership as a Program or Product manager, software engineer, platform architect, or validation architect.
  • Proficient technical background in server architecture.
  • Excellent program management skills including thought leadership and action-oriented approach.
  • Data analytical skills with knowledge of querying databases and using analytical tools.
  • Excellent communication skills using various forms of media.
  • Ability to plan work and adapt in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Self-driven and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
