The Principal Technical Project Manager plays a crucial role within Disney Experiences - Technology & Digital, where the team is dedicated to creating immersive digital experiences for Disney's premier vacation brands. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management for large programs and projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technology Project Management, the Principal Technical Project Manager will lead high-priority, multi-site strategic programs and collaborate with various engineering teams, including Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Architects, to establish effective processes that enhance efficiency and success across all program areas. In this role, the Principal Technical Project Manager will manage large-scale, complex programs, ensuring seamless collaboration across different teams and workstreams. They will anticipate risks, develop mitigation plans, and maintain accurate project documentation, including RAID logs, project plans, and budget tracking. The ability to articulate technical solutions into business strategies and understand their impact on business value is essential. Financial management is also a key responsibility, requiring the reconciliation of project actuals, forecasting course corrections, and maintaining up-to-date budget documentation. Resource management is another critical aspect of this role, as the Principal Technical Project Manager will align resource capacity maps to project plans while accounting for cross-project dependencies. They will monitor resource capacity to balance work and budget effectively. Additionally, the role involves risk management and problem-solving, where the manager will assess scope changes and variances, communicate impacts to timelines and budgets, and collaborate proactively to identify solutions to unexpected issues. Stakeholder communication and management are vital, as the Principal Technical Project Manager will drive stakeholder coordination to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements, goals, and timelines. They will create and own communication plans, manage stakeholder expectations, and build strong relationships based on trust. Transparent project reporting is also a key responsibility, involving the preparation of project status presentations, dashboards, and data-driven storytelling for leadership and executives. The Principal Technical Project Manager will enable data-driven storytelling through visualization tools and maintain comprehensive meeting minutes to track progress towards goals and milestones.
