About the position

The Principal Technical Support Engineer PHP position at Providence Health Plan is a remote role that requires some minor travel for meetings as needed. This position is part of the End User Computing team and reports directly to the Manager of Infrastructure Engineering. The Principal Client Engineer will be responsible for establishing the systems and processes necessary to define, implement, and track the configuration of the client computing environment at Providence Health Plan. This role involves effective collaboration with various business and IT groups across the organization to design and deliver a progressive, high-quality client architecture that adheres to security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations. The scope of work includes physical, virtual, and mobile client solutions. In this role, the individual will be expected to leverage their extensive experience in systems integration and engineering, particularly with tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Endpoint Manager. The Principal Client Engineer will also manage an environment of over 4,000 distributed client systems, ensuring that all systems are configured correctly and maintained according to best practices. The position requires a strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy, as well as hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM). The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience with desktop hardware, client virtualization, and mobile platforms, including smartphones and tablets, and will be responsible for enterprise desktop image management and development. Responsibilities

  • Establish systems and processes for defining, implementing, and tracking client computing environment configurations.
  • Collaborate with various business and IT groups to design and deliver a high-quality client architecture.
  • Ensure compliance with security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage an environment of over 4,000 distributed client systems using enterprise management technologies.
  • Oversee enterprise desktop image management and development.
  • Utilize Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy for system management.
  • Implement Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM) for enhanced control over group policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 6 years of systems integration and engineering experience with SCCM, software packaging, patch deployment, configuration management, and systems management.
  • 8 years of experience managing an environment of 4,000+ distributed client systems with enterprise management technology.
  • 8 years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • 6 years of hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM).
  • 10 or more years of experience with a broad range of desktop hardware, client virtualization, and mobile platforms.
  • 6 years of experience in enterprise desktop image management and development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft AZURE, O365 Enterprise, Teams, PowerShell, SCCM, Intune are strongly preferred.
