About the position

The Principal Technical Support Engineer PHP at Providence is a remote position that plays a crucial role in the End User Computing team. This position is responsible for establishing the systems and processes necessary to define, implement, and track the configuration of the client computing environment at Providence Health Plan. The individual in this role will collaborate effectively with various business and IT groups across the organization to design and deliver a progressive, high-quality client architecture that adheres to security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations. This encompasses physical, virtual, and mobile client solutions, ensuring that the technology infrastructure supports the organization's mission of providing exceptional care to its patients. In this role, the Principal Technical Support Engineer will be expected to manage a large environment of distributed client systems, utilizing enterprise management technologies such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Endpoint Manager. The engineer will also be responsible for overseeing the integration and engineering of systems, including software packaging, patch deployment, and configuration management. The position requires a strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy, as well as hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with desktop hardware, client virtualization, and mobile platforms, ensuring that all client solutions are optimized for performance and security. Responsibilities

  • Establish systems and processes for client computing environment configuration.
  • Collaborate with business and IT groups to design and deliver client architecture.
  • Manage an environment of 4,000+ distributed client systems using enterprise management technology.
  • Oversee software packaging, patch deployment, and configuration management.
  • Ensure compliance with security, software/hardware standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy configurations.
  • Develop and manage enterprise desktop images.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • 6 years of systems integration and engineering experience with SCCM, software packaging, patch deployment, and configuration management.
  • 8 years of experience managing an environment of 4,000+ distributed client systems with enterprise management technology.
  • 8 years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • 6 years of hands-on experience with Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM).
  • 10 or more years of experience with a broad range of desktop hardware, client virtualization, and mobile platforms.
  • 6 years of enterprise desktop image management and development experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft AZURE, O365 Enterprise, Teams, PowerShell, SCCM, Intune are strongly preferred.
