About the position

The Principal Technology Program Manager is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic planning and execution of technology programs within the organization. This position entails a comprehensive approach to resource allocation, budget management in collaboration with the finance team, and the continuous monitoring and tracking of delivery progress. The Principal Technology Program Manager will provide thought leadership and a clear vision to ensure the successful execution of multi-year programs while maintaining financial oversight and managing relationships with partners. In this role, the Principal Technology Program Manager will support the PMO team in creating and implementing a portfolio view that aligns with GBS IT stakeholders, business units, and partners. This includes the creation and delivery of compelling presentations for WK executives and other senior leaders, as well as facilitating the tracking and reporting of divisional and business unit metrics. The manager will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, product, operations, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of technology transformation projects with overall business objectives. The Principal Technology Program Manager will identify potential risks and dependencies, implement mitigation plans, and escalate critical issues to senior management as necessary. Additionally, the role involves monitoring project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and tracking expenses to meet financial objectives. Establishing quality standards and review mechanisms is essential to ensure that technology transformation projects meet performance, security, and reliability criteria. The Principal Technology Program Manager will also build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating project progress and outcomes. This role requires exceptional problem-solving abilities, senior executive presentation skills, and a proactive approach to project management, ensuring that the organization achieves its strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and allocate resources for technology programs.
  • Work with finance team on budget management and financial oversight.
  • Monitor, track, and manage delivery progress of programs.
  • Keep stakeholders informed throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Support PMO team in creating and implementing a portfolio view aligned with GBS IT stakeholders and business units.
  • Create and deliver PMO presentations for executives and senior leaders.
  • Facilitate tracking and reporting on divisional and business unit metrics.
  • Manage the development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop comprehensive project plans including timelines, milestones, and risk management strategies.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams for project alignment.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and roadblocks in technology transformation projects.
  • Implement mitigation plans and escalate issues to senior management.
  • Monitor project budgets and track expenses to meet financial objectives.
  • Establish quality standards for technology transformation projects.
  • Collaborate with finance teams for accurate financial reporting on cloud migration projects.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and communicate project progress effectively.
  • Manage resource availability and allocation for projects.
  • Oversee optimization of resource pools and alignment with PMO needs.
  • Assist in the development of business cases with associated leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in IT, Program management, resource management, change and transformation management.
  • 5+ years' experience with shared services model.
  • 5+ years management experience in enterprise-wide transition and/or transformation programs.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and proactive project management skills.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with infrastructure service providers and vendors.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent presentation skills for various audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems creatively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
  • Preferred experience in DevSecOps, Global Information Security, Data Center Consolidation, or Journey To Cloud programs.
