About the position

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a Principal Test Engineer-Test Integrator to join our team in Dayton, OH. This role is pivotal in supporting the U.S. Air Force's Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) mission, which focuses on modernizing and delivering next-generation aircraft that are critical for command, control, and communication during national emergencies. As a Test Engineer, you will leverage your expertise to simulate, test, certify, and enhance cutting-edge products and services across a wide spectrum, including advanced mission payloads, electronic systems, and integrated aircraft. Your work will directly contribute to the development of systems that are trusted by high-level officials, including the President and Secretary of Defense. In this position, you will be responsible for developing complex test plans and procedures to ensure the verification and validation of all product requirements. You will execute tests using top industry tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams to test both system and component-level new products. Your role will also involve the continuous improvement of test processes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that all testing activities meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area at SNC is recognized as a leader in the integration of manned and unmanned aircraft systems. Responsibilities

  • Develop complex test plans and procedures for various systems to ensure verification and validation of product requirements.
  • Execute tests using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test system and component-level new products.
  • Continuously improve test processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Document and report on Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Typically 14 or more years of experience in engineering roles.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, conducting, and documenting V&V activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies including manual and automated testing.
  • Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experience in managing product non-conformances.
  • Experience performing certification testing for organizations such as FAA, NASA, or DoD.
  • Ability to read schematics and use logical troubleshooting techniques.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
