About the position

At Medtronic, you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. As a Principal User Experience Designer in the Neuromodulation System Solutions team, you will lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world. Medtronic is a leader in the field of neuromodulation, continuously innovating groundbreaking therapies and technologies. We are committed to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life through our advanced medical devices and solutions. In this role, you will be passionate about human-centered design and possess a deep understanding of the process and craft, while also having a nimble, creative, and pragmatic approach. You will be part of a multidisciplinary UX and HF team (Usability Safety, Validation, Research, and UI Design) and collaborate on new product features and user experience enhancements for patients, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals. You will lead the UI design for mobile apps and responsive web platforms that meet patient, caregiver, and business needs, align with UX strategy, and are technically feasible. Your responsibilities will include continuously learning, growing, and improving the craft of UX and UI design, encouraging a design process that is scalable, delivers consistency, creates efficiencies, and supports cross-team collaboration. You will work closely with product leads, design teams, and development programs to plan design efforts and define goals. Utilizing Human-Centered Design, Outcome Driven Innovation (ODI), and similar processes will guide the creation of UI designs. You will also participate in initial exploration processes to identify user needs and opportunities to satisfy those needs, interact directly with users through human-centered design techniques, and direct the creation of interactive prototypes for responsive web and mobile apps. Additionally, you will lead project definition activities, participate in usability testing of prototypes, create design specs to communicate concepts and designs to internal partners, and work with developers to maintain design intent and bring concepts to life. You will navigate the regulated product development process to deliver design intent that addresses user and business needs, and prepare clear and effective oral and written reports of current design activities status, progress, and plans as required by project or department management.
