About the position

In this Principal UX Designer role at Fidelity Investments, you will lead the design efforts to create transformative and intuitive user interfaces for the Fixed Income, FFO, and Trading Services sectors. Your role will involve establishing design standards and best practices to enhance user experiences for investment professionals and business partners. You will focus on accessibility, usability, and responsive design, ensuring that digital products are visually appealing and functional. This position requires collaboration with engineers and product managers throughout the production cycle, as well as participation in user research to optimize existing features.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead design efforts for user interfaces in a fast-paced environment.
• Establish standards and best practices for user experiences.
• Create innovative solutions for various product design challenges.
• Lead design for new experiences and improvements of existing ones.
• Plan and define strategy for future iterations of designs.
• Quickly iterate on multiple interactive design solutions.
• Advocate for design solutions based on business and user goals.
• Develop high-level storyboards, mock-ups, and prototypes.
• Deliver user-friendly and aesthetically engaging work that produces results.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers throughout the production cycle.
• Assess and optimize performance of features through user research.
• Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
• Present design work to teams and senior leadership for feedback.
• Create user experience standards and guidelines to accelerate UI development.
• Contribute to shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience (8+ years).
• Master's degree in Human Factors, HCDE, or Cognitive Psychology is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, or information architect.
• Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Illustrator, Sketch, Hype, Axure, and Keynote.
• Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design.
• Strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in an Agile/scrum environment.
