About the position

The Principal User Experience Researcher will lead a team of UX researchers, conducting impactful research and coordinating efforts across various product domains. This role emphasizes strategic leadership, collaboration, and the delivery of actionable insights to enhance user experiences in a fast-paced environment. The researcher will report to the UX Research Practice Manager and will play a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of UX researchers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment to scale and increase performance velocity.
  • Facilitate prioritization of projects and balance workload across the team.
  • Develop relationships across the company to inform research projects and collaborate on end-to-end research.
  • Drive a culture of experimentation in the design and development process.
  • Identify opportunities and deliver tests based on service prototypes and participatory research activities.
  • Develop and deliver testing protocols for a CI/CD environment.
  • Partner with UX Manager to integrate insights from tools like Fullstory.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization.
  • Share synthesized insights with broader stakeholders and document team impact.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional research experience.
  • Experience in delivering qualitative and quantitative results to improve product strategy and development.
  • Up-to-date toolkit of research methods, knowing when to be lean and when to be rigorous.
  • Experience conducting impactful research in Agile teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide set of stakeholders including designers and product managers.
  • Skills to distill complex ideas to their essence.
  • Demonstrated inquisitive mind and empathy for customers.
  • Value for collaboration and team engagement.
  • Ability to think holistically and find patterns.
  • High quality communication skills.
  • Eagerness to work in complex environments and derive simple solutions.
  • Continued curiosity to evolve skills for themselves and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or above in cognitive or experimental psychology, human computer interaction, or related field.
  • Experience with eCommerce or platform experiences.
  • Experience researching multichannel experiences.
  • Experience with Fullstory or other analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean UX and Lean Research methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Experience with stakeholder management and promoting alignment.
  • Experience influencing decision makers.
