About the position

The Principal UX Content Designer will be part of the Customer Centered Design team at a multinational medical device company. This role focuses on creating clear and compelling content that simplifies complex medical information, enabling users to make informed health decisions. The designer will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance user engagement and trust through effective content design, particularly for mobile applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write, edit, and test in-product language for diabetes management.
  • Create processes and tools to support the UX Content Design practice.
  • Collaborate on UI designs using Figma to communicate concepts.
  • Partner with localization teams to ensure high-quality product experiences in multiple languages.
  • Lead UI design for mobile apps that meet user and business needs.
  • Encourage a scalable content design process that supports collaboration.
  • Work closely with product leads and design teams to plan design efforts.
  • Participate in user research to identify needs and opportunities.
  • Direct the creation of interactive prototypes for mobile apps.
  • Lead content definition activities through workshops and requirements sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required with 7+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in simplifying and communicating complex ideas for targeted audiences.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing content design solutions.
  • Desire to impact healthcare experiences through design.
  • Strong creative problem-solving and pattern recognition skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and organized with multitasking abilities.
  • Enjoys working with a diverse and skilled team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in content design for consumer-level mobile and web applications.
  • Experience using Figma.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
  • Experience in designing for internationalization and localization efforts.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.
  • Understanding of diabetes therapy and clinical data.

Benefits

  • Contract position with a pay range of $70 - $85 per hour based on experience.
  • Hybrid work model based in Northridge, CA.
