About the position

As a Principal Content Designer at Walmart, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of retail by creating purposeful content that enhances the experiences of customers, associates, suppliers, and partners worldwide. You will be responsible for distilling complex problems into easy-to-understand solutions, driving the development of foundational tools and frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality content that aligns with the company's mission of accessibility and dignity for all.

Responsibilities

  • Distill complex problems into easy-to-understand experiences.
  • Create and champion high-quality content for various stakeholders.
  • Drive the development of foundational tools, frameworks, and resources.
  • Collaborate with design, product, and business partners to shape products.
  • Present vision and content rationale compellingly to the team and leadership.
  • Identify, define, and implement solutions that integrate seamlessly into users' lives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, or related area.
  • 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, or related area if no degree is held.
  • Demonstrated track record of working cross-functionally and shipping successful product copy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and aligning stakeholders through sound rationale.
  • Deep appreciation for systems thinking and understanding of information architecture.
  • Ability to produce great work in short timeframes and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Design, or similar.
  • 8+ years of experience in UX content strategy/design.
  • A portfolio with UX case studies showcasing craft and impact.
  • Experience participating in peer reviews and working within a crit culture.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
