About the position

As a Principal UX Designer at Walmart, you will lead the vision for customer and associate experiences, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and accessible designs. Your role involves utilizing the Design Thinking process to facilitate discussions, develop concepts, and produce rapid prototypes, all while ensuring that the designs meet user needs and business goals. You will be part of an award-winning design team dedicated to improving the lives of millions of customers and associates through innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision for customer and associate experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver design solutions.
  • Utilize Design Thinking to facilitate conversations and create concepts.
  • Run design sprints and build rapid prototypes to leverage creativity.
  • Present design rationale and vision to partners and leadership.
  • Craft intuitive and accessible experiences for a broad population of customers.
  • Solicit feedback from peers and stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Engage with the design research team to inform design decisions.
  • Create scalable experiences in partnership with the Design System team.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in retail and design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, or related area.
  • 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, or related area if no degree is held.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing elegant design solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design certification (e.g., IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).
  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, or related area.
  • Experience in retail, supply chain, eCommerce, or healthcare industries.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
