About The Position

The Principal (VP) at NAACP Capital will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing investments in promising funds and startups. This role involves developing investment diligence processes and operational strategies to support the portfolio, while actively engaging in fundraising efforts and building relationships within the venture capital ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years work experience in venture capital.
  • Minimum of a BS degree (an MBA degree valued/appreciated/helpful).
  • A strong track record that demonstrates top investment performance along with impact.
  • Alignment with the fund's mission.
  • Successful experiences fundraising.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Superior writing skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the MS Office 365 suite and in building presentation decks (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and Trello.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or other software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and comfortable with the use of workforce tools to manage workflow and projects.
  • Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate to Los Angeles.
  • Willing to co-locate with the Managing Director and team, up to 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in fundraising efforts, managing end-to-end processes with investors.
  • Develop and implement NAACP Capital's investment strategy across its Fund of Funds strategy and Co-Investing strategy.
  • Actively source and develop relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and co-investors to identify potential investment opportunities.
  • Lead comprehensive due diligence processes, evaluating business models, financials, impact metrics, and market potential for prospective investments.
  • Monitor and support the portfolio, providing high value support and strategic guidance to help them achieve their impact and financial objectives.
  • Develop a portfolio 'platform' that can provide resources, introductions, fractional talent, data/insights, and more to the portfolio of funds and founders.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes to measure impact.
  • Represent the Fund at industry conferences, panels, and events, showcasing expertise in social impact investing and sharing insights on relevant trends.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Managing Director, NAACP Capital or other designee.
