About the position

The Principal Water Treatment Engineer will lead efforts in water treatment design and modeling while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role is crucial for advancing water treatment technologies and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in engineering, particularly in water treatment processes, and will provide mentorship to junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the modeling and simulation of water treatment processes, utilizing advanced computational tools and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and standards, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Conduct assessments and identify areas for improvement in existing water treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement innovative water treatment solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, clients, and community members, to discuss project developments and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • 20+ years of experience in water treatment engineering, with a focus on modeling and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of water quality standards, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in modeling software (e.g., AquaChem, HEC-RAS, EPANET) and data analysis tools.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Advanced knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in water treatment modeling software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to water treatment and quality.
  • AWWA certifications or other relevant water treatment specialties preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for project sites and regulatory meetings.
