About the position

The Principal Windows and Linux Systems Administrator role at Raytheon involves providing system administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment. This position is critical for supporting classified programs and requires collaboration with diverse teams to develop, implement, and maintain secure IT infrastructures. The role demands troubleshooting technical problems, installing and configuring hardware and operating systems, and ensuring cost-efficient environments across various classified programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide System Administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment.
• Troubleshoot technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity.
• Install and configure hardware and operating systems.
• Collaborate with program teams to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions.

Requirements

• Typically requires a bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or a master's degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience, or 9 years of direct experience without a degree.
• Must have Linux and Windows experience.
• Must have a transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance prior to start date.
• Experience in Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, or networking administration.
• Must have DoD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 certification or higher.

Nice-to-haves

• VMware highly desired.
• An active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance or prior SCI/program eligibility.
• Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
• In-depth working experience in Windows Server.
• Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
• Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX.
• Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
• High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
• Scripting experience.
