About the position

The Principal Windows and Linux System Administrator at RTX Corporation is responsible for providing system administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining secure environments across various classified programs, ensuring that program teams can rely on your expertise to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions for complex IT infrastructure problems. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team and is 100% onsite at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Provide System Administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment.
  • Collaborate with program teams to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems of moderate to high scope and complexity, including hardware and operating systems integration.
  • Install and configure hardware and operating systems.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or a master's degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience, or 9 years of direct experience without a degree.
  • Must have Linux and Windows experience.
  • Must possess a transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • Experience in one of the following: Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, or networking administration.
  • Must have DoD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 certification or higher.

Nice-to-haves

  • VMware highly desired.
  • An active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance or prior SCI/program eligibility.
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • In-depth working experience in Windows Server.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SMECP, and/or Exchange.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Scripting experience.
