About the position

The Principal Windows & Linux System Administrator at RTX Corporation is responsible for providing system administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining secure environments across various classified programs, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements, and collaborating with program teams to define computing needs and create solutions for complex IT infrastructure challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide System Administration in a combined Linux, Windows, and VMware environment.
• Install and configure hardware and operating systems.
• Conduct daily health checks and monitor the environment.
• Integrate Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products.
• Manage small projects/processes with limited supervision.
• Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high complexity.
• Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security compliance requirements.
• Provide ticketing resolution and documentation on IT processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance required prior to start date.
• Experience in Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, or networking administration.
• DoD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 certification or higher.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing solutions and documentation for various server architectures.
• Working knowledge of data backup and recovery.
• Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, Horizon VDI, and ESX.
• Experience integrating COTS products.
• Knowledge of data storage concepts and technologies.
• Experience with security hardening of complex systems.
