The Town of Tewksbury is seeking an elementary school principal who are visionary leaders, capable of creating a culture of high academic achievement, embraces academic excellence, innovation, and continuous student growth. The new principals shall possess a strong sense of self, a spirited disposition, and the enjoyment of celebrating the little victories occurring daily in the classrooms. The new principals will build a positive school climate, use research and data to drive instruction, and promote new initiatives designed to meet the needs of all students.

  • Explore, assess and implement educational concepts that enhance teaching and learning under the MA DESE Curriculum Framework.
  • Develop a program for personal and professional growth of staff that highlights cooperation and self-renewal with an emphasis on creativity and innovation.
  • Lead and direct strategic educational initiatives that result in measurable student outcomes and achievements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Possess or have verbal approval from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education of the proper licensure at the point of formal appointment by the Superintendent.
  • Out of state candidates must hold a valid administrative license and have a minimum of three (3) years working under an administrative license in their state to be eligible for a temporary Principal license in Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated success leading and directing strategic educational initiatives that result in measurable student outcomes and achievements.
  • Successful classroom teaching and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrates a sound philosophy of education, shows flexibility in approaches to school organization, and has a broad knowledge of the organization of school personnel.
  • Experience or educational background in professional development programs for a learning organization.
  • Strong knowledge of learning theories and has the ability to apply them.
  • At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience required.
  • Administrative and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Masters degree required.
  • Sense of humor and a spirited personality.
  • Regionally competitive annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Employment contract for up to three years.
  • 261 day position at the Heath Brook Elementary School (Grades PK-1).
