About the position

As a Principal AI Engineer at our innovative FinTech startup, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing the financial landscape through advanced AI-driven solutions. Our mission is to transform risk assessment in financial decision-making, making it smarter, faster, and more efficient for institutions around the globe. This position is based in Waltham, MA, and requires in-person work 2-4 days a week, depending on weekly priorities. In this role, you will architect and build cutting-edge AI solutions, including end-to-end "agentic" and LLM-driven workflows. You will ensure that our AI models and systems are robust, scalable, and compliant with industry regulations. Additionally, you will drive research initiatives to keep our company at the forefront of AI in the FinTech sector. Your expertise will guide the development of AI technologies that enhance financial modeling, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance, ultimately leading to smarter financial decision-making for our clients. Responsibilities

• Architect and build cutting-edge AI solutions, including end-to-end 'agentic' and LLM-driven workflows.
• Collaborate with C-level executives, product leaders, and the head of AI to define the AI strategy and roadmap.
• Ensure AI models and systems are robust, scalable, and compliant with industry regulations.
• Drive research initiatives to maintain a leading position in AI within the FinTech sector.
• Manage and mentor high-performing technical teams through the implementation of AI solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development with at least 5 years developing AI/ML powered applications.
• Deep expertise in state-of-the-art AI technologies, including NLP, LLMs, RAG, reinforcement learning, and computational intelligence.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex AI projects in a corporate environment, preferably in FinTech or a related industry.
• Strong background in financial modeling, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance in the financial sector.
• Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and thought leadership in AI, evidenced by patents, publications, or speaking engagements.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a history of driving strategic initiatives and influencing product development.
