Jabil has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Electrical Integration Engineer to lead electrical design functions for data center equipment and products! This person will be a customer-facing Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will collaborate with client engineering teams, assist in conceptual designs, and work with our production sites to help implement product manufacturing. This role will ideally sit in Austin, TX, with relocation available and the option for remote work. The position offers a competitive salary including annual bonus opportunities, with some travel required. The Principal Electrical Integration Engineer will manage and oversee the electrical systems essential for the data center, energy storage systems, and HVAC applications. This role will involve developing specifications, selecting key components, routing wires and cables, establishing connections, and transitioning design to manufacturing. Furthermore, the position includes leading test process implementation and ensuring equipment alignment to maintain the highest standards of operational excellence and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design reviews
  • Prepare/review short circuit coordination studies and maintain the software models to match as-built site conditions
  • Review control panel design and UL standards for designing and building control panels
  • Evaluate the requirements and actions that close the gap between concept and manufacturing readiness
  • Proficient in wiring and cable management systems; CAD software for electrical design (preference for AutoCAD Electrical, Creo Schematic)
  • Interface with internal and external mission critical design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered
  • Work closely with system architects to comprehend product specifications and electrical system architectural designs
  • Collaborate with project managers on design quotations
  • Provide technical input to identify and mitigate project risks that may impact project plans and schedules
  • Conduct PLD design, component selection (i.e., Transformers, Breakers, Relays, UPS, ATS, etc.), wire and cable sizing and routing, and connections
  • Ability to perform vendor drawing reviews and prepare documentation, including Bill of Material (BOM), calculations, data sheets, detailed drawings, specifications, and test plans
  • Robust skill set in understanding single lines and schematic diagrams, evaluating electrical system operations and recommend modifications to rectify malfunctions or accommodate system requirement changes
  • Collaborate in new product design and development of electrical power distribution equipment such as Low Voltage Switchgear, Power Distribution Cabinets or LV panel boards
  • Experience in power distribution products and equipment, have tested products per latest codes and standards and have translated designs to manufacturing drawings
  • Monitor product delivery for quality and adherence to schedule
  • Perform tests, debug, and validate electrical systems and support manufacturing processes
  • Manage relationships with electrical component vendors and contract manufacturers
  • Keep updated with the latest technologies and methods to ensure competitive, cost-effective designs
  • Work with your manager to propose potential R&D project ideas to enhance competency areas
  • Discuss with management and production staff to assess engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness
  • May undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • A Masters degree in engineering or higher is preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience in mission-critical facility designs
  • Knowledge of electrical systems used in a data center environment (i.e., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units), energy storage systems, or HVAC applications
  • Background in electrical power, including low- and medium-voltage, switchgear, distribution systems, AC/DC systems, hardware specifications, hardware interfacing, and associated power management tools
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Energy Storage Systems and Data Center Infrastructure is preferred (such as NEC, IEC, etc.)
  • Proven experience in electrical specification development, component selection, and system integration
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Creative, self-motivated, accountable, and team-oriented
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight as part of a global team
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural guides
  • Effective at presenting information and responding to management, clients, and public queries
  • Capable of influencing others and sharing best practices while mentoring less experienced engineers
  • Capable of assessing projects, articulating risks, and developing project milestones
  • Familiar with stage-gate processes in project lifecycle management (PLCM)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in WindChill and DevOps are a plus
