About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC), you will be part of a leading aerospace and defense organization, focusing on the design and development of advanced technology systems. This role involves collaborating with various engineering disciplines to support the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Product Center, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to address complex challenges in military and aerospace applications. You will engage in dynamic and structural analysis, contributing to the development of innovative solutions for both existing and new platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting concept and design efforts of the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Product Center
  • Collaborating with individuals from Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sub-Contracts organizations
  • Developing advanced technical principles, techniques, and concepts with little direction
  • Conducting dynamic/structural analysis and finite element analysis
  • Supporting viscoelastic structural analyses for grain designs that meet propellant requirements
  • Utilizing application software such as ANSA, Nastran, Abaqus, NX, FEMAP, Patran, and HyperMesh.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain an Active Department of Defense Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Professional experience in static and dynamics analysis, focusing on non-linear, viscoelastic modeling/analysis of solid propellant grains
  • Knowledge of modeling software such as ANSA, META, Nastran, Abaqus, NX, and/or HyperMesh.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing propellant chemist and ballistician design support
  • Familiarity with development of material master curves via time-temperature superposition methods
  • Familiarity with production MRB processes
  • Experience in static analysis, modal analysis, frequency response analysis, transient response analysis, shock response analysis, and viscoelastic/hyperelastic material models
  • Working experience with solid rocket motor designs including cartridge/booted grains and case-bonded center-perforated grains.
