About the position

The Principal Engineer is a pivotal role within the global Air Cooled Chiller product engineering team, responsible for contributing to product design, testing, data analysis, and project management. This position requires a strong emphasis on communication skills, as the Principal Engineer must effectively present information to various stakeholders, including engineering teammates, engineering managers, product management, and business leaders. The role also involves supporting the manufacturing of products by representing the design team and initiating and executing design changes. The Principal Engineer is expected to develop and maintain skill sets and work practices that align with the organization's expectations and needs. In this role, the Principal Engineer will take a lead position in ensuring the timely completion of programs, regularly reporting on project statuses. The engineer will be a master of theories, concepts, technical principles, and processes related to fluid, thermal, and mechanical aspects of air or water-cooled chillers. Proficiency in mechanical design is essential, as the engineer will conceptualize and implement design ideas into products while identifying opportunities across different product families. The role also requires applying mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED, and ASME, and the ability to resolve field issues under aggressive time constraints through root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective actions. The Principal Engineer will work closely with design and manufacturing teams to generate layout concepts and system configurations that balance cost, performance, and reliability. Responsibilities also include analyzing, designing, modifying, and troubleshooting mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data, as well as generating and reviewing technical documentation for the product team. Occasional domestic and international travel is expected, but it will be less than 10%.
