About the position

As the Principal AI Research Scientist in the Grid Technologies AI Lab at Siemens Energy, you will lead innovative research aimed at developing autonomous power grid solutions. This role combines advanced AI research with practical applications in power systems, utilizing next-generation hardware and global expertise to drive the energy transition. You will engage in collaborative research, model training, and mentorship, contributing to the advancement of AI technologies in the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Craft research questions that push the boundaries of what's possible with AI in power systems.
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in physics-informed AI, Graph Neural Networks, and Large Foundation Models for application to power grid tasks.
  • Develop and implement novel algorithms, techniques, and models using state-of-the-art approaches such as fine-tuning methods, federated learning, and knowledge distillation.
  • Collaborate with the research team and external partners to enhance research capabilities and drive innovation.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals and present at industry events to showcase advancements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Simulation Science, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in AI research, focusing on novel AI techniques for power systems.
  • Strong track record of published research and conference presentations in relevant fields, particularly at top-tier conferences.
  • Proficient in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience optimizing machine learning workflows to run on GPUs.
  • Previous experience with power systems is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and resilience.
