About the position

The Print, Pattern and Graphic Designer for Sleepwear is a temp to perm role at a leading fashion company in New York. This hybrid position involves collaborating on the development of seasonal patterns, colors, and graphics, ensuring alignment with the brand's visual identity and market trends. The designer will work closely with design leads and merchants to create artwork and colorways, while also maintaining print resources and conducting trend analysis.

Responsibilities

• Drive and collaborate on the development of seasonal pattern, color, and graphics from concept through to execution for line plans and special product launches
• Collaborate with Design leads / Merchants to conceive the overarching category needs that tie into the seasonal concept
• Create artwork & colorways for yard dyes, jacquards and special fabric developments
• Ensure that the print charts / walls / archives / boards in working order & up to date for all teams to use as a reference
• Leverage resources in sourcing new ideas, both internally and externally, and conduct ongoing competitor research / trend analysis
• Synthesize trend research analysis with pattern and color ideation and delivery needs as well as production techniques
• Possess an understanding of the Brands visual DNA and use of color, pattern and graphic assets, reviewing opportunities and successes with trend relevance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Fashion, Textiles or Surface Pattern Design
• 3-5+ years of relevant design experience, some or all specific to print & textile design
• Strong computer knowledge including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to hand sketch
• Good understanding of print processes & techniques on a production & mill level
• Experience in placement / engineered prints and how to format these to sketches & pattern pieces
• Strong design and conceptual skills, strong sense of style and color
• Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to form partnerships to collaborate, influence and drive change
