About the position
The Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for obtaining prior authorization from insurance companies for medical procedures, tests, and medications. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in the prior authorization process and strong communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and insurance companies effectively.
Responsibilities
- Obtain prior authorization from insurance companies for medical procedures, tests, and medications
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary information for prior authorization requests
- Ensure all necessary documentation is submitted to insurance companies in a timely manner
- Follow up with insurance companies to ensure prior authorization requests are processed in a timely manner
- Provide excellent customer service to healthcare providers and insurance companies
- Maintain accurate records of all prior authorization requests and follow-up activities
- Cross-trained to assist in clinic as Medical Assistant
Requirements
- Prior experience working as a Prior Authorization insurance specialist
- Prior experience working in a medical clinic as a MA
- Strong understanding of the prior authorization process
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
