About the position

The Privacy Analyst I plays a crucial role in supporting Alliance Health's privacy program by developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal privacy regulations. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring two days a week onsite in Morrisville, NC. The analyst will investigate privacy incidents, assist in audits, and provide training to staff, all while maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate Privacy and Confidentiality Incidents and Breaches
  • Assist Director of Privacy/Security and Privacy Analyst II with investigating, tracking, and resolving incidents and breaches
  • Communicate with staff and management to collect facts for risk assessment and investigation
  • Utilize investigative techniques, including interviews and evidence collection
  • Document investigative actions and findings in Compliance360
  • Develop audit and monitoring tools to assist with investigations
  • Provide notification of breaches to members within specified timeframes
  • Document privacy and confidentiality complaints in appropriate systems
  • Notify providers of potential violations and monitor compliance steps
  • Conduct recurring and ad hoc privacy audits
  • Develop audit protocols and tools as necessary
  • Prepare audit reports and propose remediation plans
  • Monitor compliance of Business Associates and Delegated Vendors
  • Assist in developing and disseminating HIPAA and Confidentiality training to employees
  • Conduct New Employee Orientation HIPAA and Confidentiality training bi-weekly

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in healthcare, public or business administration, social science or related field and five years of experience in healthcare privacy compliance, regulatory analysis, auditing, investigating; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferably in healthcare, public or business administration, social science or related field and three years of experience in healthcare privacy compliance, regulatory analysis, auditing, investigating
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HIPAA privacy regulation and conducting/managing audits or investigations
  • CLEAR certification required within one year of employment

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of NC General Statutes, 42 CFR Part 2
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or similar certification
  • Ability to develop automated audit tools, databases, and tracking tools
