About the position

The Privacy Analyst at NRG will play a crucial role in enhancing the company's privacy program by partnering with various business levels. This position focuses on building privacy-by-design processes, conducting privacy risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with evolving privacy laws and best practices. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data privacy and will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement effective privacy controls and promote best practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data privacy impact assessments, audits, and analyses to identify areas for improvement in product and service development.
  • Mature the NRG Privacy Office by working with technology solutions/tools to scale the privacy program's operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate evolving privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices to maintain program compliance.
  • Partner with brands and departments to centralize NRG's privacy-by-design principles and processes.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to ensure industry-leading practices in protecting personal data.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to draft and implement privacy controls throughout the product life cycle.
  • Promote privacy best practices for customer, employee, partner, and vendor privacy.
  • Respond to internal and external privacy-related inquiries and investigations, supporting privacy defensibility and readiness.
  • Enhance data governance by meticulous data mapping and inventorying.
  • Interact with Cybersecurity on data retention/destruction and records management to implement privacy-related controls.
  • Coordinate privacy training and awareness activities across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in privacy/compliance.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in compliance or technology-related field.
  • Familiarity with OneTrust (or similar privacy platform solution).
  • Experience in data mapping, data governance, and/or data inventory.
  • Knowledge of general privacy policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Knowledge of data technology and use of basic analytics tools and dashboards.
  • Experience with MSFT Office 365 and related tools (e.g., Excel, PPT, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communications and influencing skills.
  • Proven history of success working with technical product and engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Legal or master's degree in compliance or technology-related field.
  • IAPP Certifications CIPP/US, CIPP/C, CIPP/IT and/or CIPT preferred.
  • OneTrust certification in Data Mapping, Data Discovery, PRA, and/or Assessments.
  • Understanding of privacy frameworks and enabling technologies.
  • Work experience in energy and/or smart home.
