About the position

The Privacy Analyst at ACORD Solutions Group plays a crucial role in managing privacy oversight and compliance within the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring privacy policies and procedures, managing complex privacy incidents, and ensuring adherence to federal and state privacy laws. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote privacy awareness and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the privacy resource to UMMS Corporate and Member Organizations, advising on privacy-related issues.
  • Manage and resolve complex privacy investigations, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and oversee the implementation of management action plans.
  • Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and draft investigation reports.
  • Prepare and submit federal and state privacy breach reports under the direction of the Director of Privacy.
  • Track current and new federal and state privacy laws and provide status reports to leadership.
  • Develop and manage project plans to comply with regulatory changes.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to determine compliance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Manage the Privacy Audit and Monitoring Plan and develop auditing tools.
  • Prepare and present audit outcome reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Mentor and guide Compliance Analysts in their roles.
  • Develop privacy awareness messages and educational materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare, law, or relevant field and two years of experience in healthcare privacy, case investigations, and auditing.
  • Master's degree in business administration, healthcare, law, or relevant field and one year of experience in healthcare privacy, case investigations, and auditing.
  • Three years of work experience in health care compliance preferred.
  • One year experience with health laws and regulations, including knowledge of HIPAA and state privacy laws.
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHCP) or relevant compliance certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in health care compliance and auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state privacy laws.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
