About the position

The Privacy and Digital Policy Analyst at the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) will play a crucial role in advancing the organization's global policy agenda on privacy, data, and digital issues. This position involves collaborating with leadership and member companies to develop strategies, monitor policy trends, and maintain CIPL's reputation as a thought leader in the field. The analyst will engage with various stakeholders, draft regulatory comments, and represent CIPL at events, contributing to the development of innovative solutions and best practices in privacy and data governance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and implement project plans to advance CIPL's global policy agenda on privacy, data, and digital policy issues.
  • Help develop specific policy positions by collaborating with CIPL leadership and member companies.
  • Monitor policy trends relevant to CIPL's mission and summarize findings for staff and members.
  • Maintain CIPL's reputation as experts in privacy and data policy by staying updated on global developments.
  • Manage collaborations with member companies, think tanks, and policy influencers to advance CIPL's agenda.
  • Expand relationships with current members and recruit new members for CIPL.
  • Draft regulatory comments, white papers, issue briefs, and articles.
  • Develop agendas and content for CIPL events and represent CIPL at these events.
  • Assist with special projects relevant to CIPL's mission.

Requirements

  • JD degree or Master of Public Policy degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in related fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of global privacy, data protection, and digital laws and policies.
  • Strong understanding of the US federal and state legislative/regulatory process.
  • Experience writing public consultation responses, white papers, or articles on privacy and data protection issues.
  • Business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Experience with technology trends, computer science, and/or data analytics.
  • Familiarity with competition law, intellectual property law, and/or regulatory compliance.
