About the position

The Privacy Engineering Manager II for Photos and Google One at Google is responsible for overseeing the privacy engineering team, ensuring that user privacy is protected and that the organization complies with relevant regulations. This role involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to identify and mitigate privacy risks, thereby maintaining user trust and enhancing the privacy standards of Google Photos. The manager will also support the growth of their team and lead privacy initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Privacy Engineers assigned to Photos and Google One and support their growth.
  • Partner with the Photos and Google One Privacy Lead on the state of Privacy programs, policies, privacy posture, and the overall direction of privacy for products and services.
  • Develop relationships with Photos' Product and Engineering teams to ensure privacy-first development and user experiences.
  • Improve Photos' privacy posture by providing guidance to engineering teams, privacy launch approvals, data access approvals, and other privacy consultancy work.
  • Lead Photos and Google One Privacy program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working in a privacy related field (e.g., security engineering, data engineering, data scientist, compliance engineering etc.).
  • 2 years of experience in managing resources (e.g., prioritizing work, project planning, and execution, etc.) to solve technical and operational problems.
  • 2 years of experience in managing, mentoring, and developing a team to drive initiatives and solutions for technological problems with company-wide impact.

  • Experience building diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Experience engaging key cross-functional stakeholders, driving consensus, and unblocking challenges to land changes across multiple business units.
  • Experience leveraging industry knowledge to determine privacy technologies or frameworks to solve technical and operational problems.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
