About the position

The Privacy Engineering Manager at Walgreens is responsible for leading the privacy engineering function within the Privacy Office. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implementing privacy principles across technologies and business lines. The manager will oversee privacy impact assessments, technical risk analyses, and audits, while providing guidance during product development to protect user privacy and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop privacy impact assessments and technical risk analyses.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits/assessments of privacy controls and procedures.
  • Work across product lines to discuss technical implementations impacting privacy.
  • Develop and uphold quality standards for privacy review and incident management processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team and set actionable goals in an unstructured environment.
  • Analyze existing systems and processes against privacy requirements and design necessary changes.
  • Respond to privacy incidents, collecting information on scope and root cause, and manage remediation activities.
  • Track product issues impacting privacy and ensure adequate remediation.
  • Represent Walgreens externally in industry privacy working groups and discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in privacy and/or technology industry standards/regulations, or a High School Diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience.
  • Experience working on privacy solutions in an engineering capacity.
  • Knowledge of online privacy threats and existing protection solutions.
  • Experience assessing architectural designs for privacy shortcomings.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, ePD) into actionable technical specifications.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial business decisions.
  • At least 2 years of direct or indirect leadership experience.

  • CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) certification.
