About the position

As a Privacy Specialist II at Cambia Health, you will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to create a person-focused and economically sustainable health care system. You will be part of a dedicated team of Privacy Specialists who are committed to protecting sensitive information and enhancing the trust that members place in Cambia Health. Your work will directly contribute to making health care easier and improving the lives of our members. In this role, you will be responsible for addressing privacy-related inquiries, investigating privacy incidents, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and state data breach laws. You will also assist in the development and presentation of privacy-related training programs aimed at fostering a culture of compliance within the organization. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you review legal documents, interpret laws and regulations, and recommend corrective actions to supervisors and managers. Additionally, you will maintain databases related to privacy and track training completion across the enterprise. This is a temporary position that allows you to work from home within Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Utah, providing flexibility while you contribute to a meaningful cause. The hourly pay for this role ranges from $55.00 to $65.00, reflecting the importance of the responsibilities you will undertake.

Responsibilities

  • Issue, spot and address basic privacy-related questions and provide guidance to the business.
  • Investigate privacy incidents and log them in the incident tracking system to ensure compliance with HIPAA and state data breach laws.
  • Recommend corrective actions and communicate them to supervisors and managers.
  • Process individual rights requests under HIPAA and oversee mitigation efforts.
  • Assist with the development and presentation of privacy-related training to further a compliance culture.
  • Complete training tracking and monitoring to ensure enterprise-wide training completion compliance.
  • Assist with the maintenance of databases relating to privacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, health policy, communication, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of previous work experience in privacy, particularly for a HIPAA covered entity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one privacy certification (e.g., CIPP-US or CHPC).
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex legal language and terminology.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and understand laws, regulations, and other regulatory compliance guidance.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of privacy-related laws and regulations governing personal information, particularly HIPAA and state data breach laws.
