About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. The Privacy Technical Solution Architect will play a crucial role in the TikTok Privacy & Security team, which is responsible for building compliant and user-friendly privacy solutions. This position involves designing and implementing technical control strategies based on legal policies, ensuring that TikTok's privacy-related systems, including data discovery, data access controls, data retention & deletion, and user data protection, are robust and effective. The architect will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and implement solutions that meet both business and privacy requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of privacy principles and laws, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to create scalable and actionable technical solutions that incorporate industry best practices. The architect will also partner with legal and compliance teams to establish technical rules and standards for applying privacy technologies throughout the data life-cycle. In addition to technical expertise, the Privacy Technical Solution Architect will need to cultivate a strong understanding of business needs to assist in the design of solutions and drive their implementation. The role also involves identifying and evaluating new privacy solutions and practices that could enhance TikTok's privacy and security posture, ensuring that the company remains compliant with various regional privacy regulations and legal policies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and actionable technical solutions based on regional privacy regulations and legal policies.
• Partner with legal and compliance teams to establish technical rules and standards for applying privacy technologies to data life-cycles.
• Cultivate business understanding to better grasp privacy needs and requirements, assisting in the design of solutions and driving implementation.
• Identify and evaluate new privacy solutions/practices to improve TikTok's privacy and security posture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or privacy/security engineering.
• Ability to quickly understand technical designs, challenges, and risks.
• Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with domestic and international laws and regulations, such as cybersecurity law, GDPR, CCPA.
• Knowledge of privacy and/or compliance solutions for different industries.
