About the position

The Private Awards Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a critical role in the Private Awards Shared Services Team, which is essential for advancing TNC's goals of operational excellence and compliance in financial services related to private donations. This remote position, with a preference for candidates in Australia, Tanzania, or Kenya, involves overseeing a team of Private Award Specialists and ensuring the effective management of financial data and compliance with TNC policies and legal frameworks. The role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills to drive results and support the organization's mission of conservation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities and personnel of a team of Private Award Specialists.
  • Oversee finance and accounting activities related to Private Awards.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies, legal requirements, and financial standards.
  • Develop and coordinate tactics for program strategic goals and priorities.
  • Supervise and monitor workloads for team members, ensuring accountability and meeting deadlines.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Private Awards and provide guidance to PACE leadership and BU Finance Leaders.
  • Report to leadership on team activities and programmatic commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration and 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with GAAP, IFRS, and fund accounting principles.
  • Technical experience with spreadsheet programs and financial management tools.
  • Experience in financial interpretation and analysis.
  • Experience recruiting, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and oral).

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • Experience with the Insight Project Cost and Billing Module (PCB), Workday, or other grant tracking systems.
  • Technical expertise on complex accounting/financial issues.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with U.S. Federal Uniform Guidance and international government regulations.
